Full-Service Packing

Let our crew box the whole house — or just the kitchen and the fragile stuff — with our materials and careful hands.

Packing is where a move goes sideways most often, and it’s the part people dread. Earls Moving Company will do all of it: our crew shows up with boxes, paper, tape, and bubble wrap and packs your home room by room, labeling as we go so the unload makes sense. Or we’ll handle just the kitchen, the art, and the breakables and leave the rest to you.

Full-pack service starts at $340 for materials and labor, scaled to the size of your home and how much you’d like us to box.

  • Licensed & insured — US DOT/MC & Alabama PSC household-goods authority
  • Set prices in writing, with nothing tucked out of sight
  • Our own uniformed crew, on our own trucks

Ask Earl for your set price

Drop us the basics and someone in our Avondale office writes back with one firm price for the whole move — you owe nothing, and it’s usually in your inbox within the hour.

We pack the way we’d want our own grandmother’s china packed: dishes stood on edge in dish-pack boxes with paper between each one, glasses individually wrapped, mirrors and framed art in flat cartons, lamps padded and crated. Wade gives you a packing estimate alongside the move quote, so you know the all-in number before our crew brings a single roll of tape.

Birmingham summers are hot and humid, and that matters for packing. We don’t seal up anything that’s been sitting in a sweltering attic without letting it air first, and we use sturdy boxes that hold up in the heat and the back of a truck on a July afternoon.

Pick the level of packing you need

You don’t have to choose all-or-nothing. Most folks land in one of these three:

Full pack

We box the entire house, every room and closet and cabinet, with our own materials. Done the day before or the morning of the move. From $340.

Partial pack

We handle the parts that take the longest or break the easiest, like the kitchen, china, art, and electronics, while you do the simple stuff.

Fragile-only

Just the breakables: dishes, glassware, mirrors, framed pieces, and that one shelf you’re nervous about.

What full-service packing runs

Pricing scales with how much of the house you want us to box. Here’s a rough guide for materials and labor together.

Packing scope Typical range
Fragile / kitchen only From $340
Partial pack (1–2 bedroom) $340 – $700
Full pack (3-bedroom home) $800 – $1,500

What packing service doesn’t cover

A few things sit outside a standard pack so the quote stays clear:

  • Unpacking and putting things away at the new house, available but quoted separately.
  • Boxing up a garage or shed full of chemicals, paint, or fuel, which can’t go on the truck.
  • Specialty crating for a piano or large safe, from $319.
  • Disposal of clutter you decide not to take.

Why our packing holds up on a Birmingham move

A box that survives the truck and the heat is half the job. Here’s how we keep your things safe in transit:

  • Heavy-duty dish-pack and book boxes that don’t buckle when they’re stacked or sit in a warm truck.
  • Dishes stood on edge and double-wrapped; stemware in cell boxes so glasses never touch.
  • Mirrors, TVs, and framed art in flat cartons with corner protection.
  • Clear room labels on every box so the unload at the new place actually makes sense.

Wade builds the packing into your written estimate, and everything we pack is covered the same as the rest of your move: up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment, $0.60/lb released value, with full-value protection optional. A $89 deposit holds your date and applies to the total.

What’s already in your price

Everything our Birmingham crew rolls up with on move day — nothing added later, nothing sprung on you.

  • All packing materials — boxes, paper, tape, bubble wrap, dish and wardrobe cartons
  • Room-by-room packing with clear labeling for an easy unload
  • Careful wrapping of dishes, glassware, mirrors, art, and electronics
  • Full-pack, partial-pack, or fragile-only — pack as much or as little as you want
  • Packing estimate from $340, quoted alongside your move price
  • Same coverage as the move: up to $1,000,000 cargo, full-value protection optional

The questions we get most

Can I just have you pack the kitchen and breakables and do the rest myself?
That’s our partial-pack service and it’s popular. We’ll handle the dishes, glassware, art, mirrors, and anything fragile while you box the easy stuff like books and clothes. Tell Wade what you want us to cover and he prices just that — no need to pay for a full pack you don’t need.
When does the packing happen — the day before or move-day morning?
Usually the day before for a full pack, so move morning runs smooth and everything’s boxed and labeled when the truck arrives. For a small home or a partial pack, we can often pack and load the same day. We’ll set the schedule with you when we book.
What’s the starting cost for a full-house pack?
Full-pack service starts at $340 for materials and labor and scales with the size of your home and how much you want us to box. You get a written packing estimate alongside your move quote, so the all-in number is set before our crew brings the first box.
Are there things you won’t pack or load onto the truck?
Yes — we can’t move hazardous items like paint, propane, fuel, fireworks, or chemicals, for safety and legal reasons. We’ll flag those during the estimate so you can dispose of them ahead of time. Plants and perishables are best moved in your own car too.
